Damnation A.D.

We sat down to dinner at Harmony with Damnation A.D. and figured we'd ask them a few questions about getting back together. We showed up with our high-tech Fisher Price recording device and the following was all we could decipher.

BDC How long as it been since you guys have played, besides that last show in Rochester? That was your first show back right?
Ken The last show we played was in Europe, Bremen. Was the end of 1999?
Alex It was 1998, that sailors bar.
Mike No remember it was Hamburg because we had to park the van on the sidewalk next to the door because it was such a sketchy neighborhood you wanted to be able to see the van while you play.
BDC Are you guys psyched to do this again? What brought you guys together again?
Ken I'm psyched. I mean think the things that really lead us to being able to do more than just a one-off is we got an invitation about a year and a half ago from John McKaig, who does a lot of shows up in Syracuse. It was a benefit and it was a really good cause so we talked to everyone and everybody thought it was fun and we got Colin involved. It was really a lot of fun to play those songs again. So since then right when we got off that show we said we should do something else.
BDC Was it really easy to slip back into what you were doing before as a band? Is it different?
Mike I definitely think that it's different. Everyone is in a different part of their lives but it feels natural to be recording and play music again. What opened the door for me is that Ken and I are doing a side-project called When Tigers Fight and that was the first time that I had done something musically in a long time. Things are different but it's definitely going to be harder because we're not teenagers anymore. Responsibility sucks. We're just going to see what happens.
BDC Do you have any plans for touring?
Ken Really the only things on the table are some stuff in April and I think maybe 8 shows in the USA. We also do have a European tour with Most Precious Blood (which Colin plays with them as well) and Ringworm.
BDC Where are those US shows going to be?
Ken DC on the 15th and the 29th in Massachusetts at this metal fest and then the 30th is in Baltimore.
BDC How excited are you about the DC show on the 15th?
Mike It's going to be fucking great. You know what, playing DC again, I mean we played the show in Syracuse but we never got to say goodbye to DC. It's going to be cool to come back and play for old friends.
BDC Thanks dudes. See you on the 15th.
